Egypt is located in northern Africa. Anicent Egyptians conisdered red an evil colour, and black a very good colour and this is why. To the Egyptians, there were two lands, black and red. The red were the lands of the desert, were it was dry, hot, and barren. The black was the soil along the nile, perfect for planting, fertile, adn full of nutrients. They land of Egypt was pretty flat with one big river flowing through the middle called the Nile. Egyptians got many many things needed for their lives from the Nile. All egyptian depended on the Nile so most of the towns were pretty close to the Nile. Every year the Nile would flood and bring water to the farther away farm lands. The land in Egypt is about 90 percent desert and, althogh the dessert acted as a effective natural barrier, it's not so good to grow things in. This flooding brings in rich soil for planting. Unlike other unpredictable floods, this flood happened every year around the same time, and was considered a gift. It was gentle and it caused very little, almost no damage. Another interesting thing on Egypt is that is was split into two sectors, Upper and Lower egypt. Upper, or southern, Egypt is a narrow river valley, with steep cliffs rising on either side.Lower, or northern, Egypt is the delta. Almost three hundred miles across at the mouth of the Nile, the great fan-shaped region was the breadbasket of ancient Egypt and later of the Roman Empire.
